HANDLING & SHIPPING

Below are a list of shipping instructions that will ensure the safety of your hides and will help us keep track of what hides belong to you.

01.

Storing Your Salted Hides

Keep your dry salted skins in a cool, dry, bug free environment. Salted hides can be damaged by: moisture, mold, rodents, & bugs. Dry salted hides will naturally draw in moisture from their surroundings. Storing hides in high humidity or on cement floors can result in hides taking in moisture.

Punch Code Location Examples

Please punch code your hides with the number consistent with your record keeping system. Tags will come off, therefore this is a necessity for keeping track of which of your customers the hide belongs to. For instructions on punch coding please give us a call or email. Your hides will be punched with your tannery customer number immediately upon receipt of your shipments.

Larger heavier hides may require more soaking time while smaller thin skinned animals may require less. After soaking place the hides in a plastic bag to sweat overnight.
